Frequently Asked Questions
How long is the tour?
Kyoto Mountain Exploration is approximately 10 hours. Additional time may be possible, with extension fees depending on the vehicle type and schedule.
What is included in the tour?
The tour price includes private transportation with a driver, tolls, fuel, parking, admission to Amanohashidate View Land, and the fishing rod and equipment used for the optional fishing activity. Lunch is not included and is paid for separately by guests.
Is private transportation included?
Yes. Private transportation is arranged and included throughout the day. Most places are in rural and northern Kyoto and can take a long time to reach by public transport. A 7-seater is standard, with a Toyota HiAce or equivalent larger vehicle used where appropriate. Vehicle arrangements are adapted to group size, including larger groups of up to 20 guests.
What do we do for lunch?
We will stop for lunch at Kayabuki no Sato, where guests can purchase local soba before continuing the journey. Lunch is paid for separately and is not included in the tour price. If you have any allergies or dietary restrictions, please let me know in advance.
Is fishing included?
Yes. We can do some shoreline fishing during the tour, depending on the weather and sea conditions. You don’t need any fishing experience, and children are welcome to try. A fishing rod and equipment are included, so you don’t need to bring anything unless you want to bring your own.
How much walking is involved?
Most of the journey is by private vehicle, with walking and exploring at each stop. There is no major hiking involved, and the amount of walking is generally manageable. Since the tour is private, we can also adjust the pace depending on your group.
Is the tour suitable for children?
Yes. The tour is suitable for all ages. There is a good mix of driving, walking, exploring the countryside, and activities along the way, so we don’t have to spend the whole day walking from one sightseeing spot to another. The pace and time at each location can also be adjusted depending on your family.
Is the tour suitable for seniors or guests with limited mobility?
Yes. Most of the journey is by private vehicle, so we can reduce the amount of walking where possible. Some locations may have stairs, slopes, or uneven ground, so please let me know in advance if anyone in your group has limited mobility. I can adjust the day accordingly.
What happens if the weather is bad?
Mountain and coastal weather can change quickly. If a location or activity is not suitable because of the weather, we can adjust the day depending on the conditions. Fishing also depends on the weather and sea conditions, so it may not always be possible.
What should we wear or bring?
Wear comfortable walking shoes and clothing suitable for the weather. I recommend bringing water, sun protection during warmer months, and an extra layer during cooler seasons. If you are planning to spend some time around the beach or water, bring an extra shirt and a small towel.
